Android App: AirDroid
This is one of those apps that won’t be as useful to some compared to others. It all depends on how you use your phone. This app connects your phone to other devices so that you may surf through your phone and use some of its features while not actually having your phone with you. It connects through a WiFi network so it’s not like a RDP/VNC connection though.
One of the two main features I find this app offers is being able to receive and send text messages from the connected device. In my case, I have a desk job and am on my computer all day. I can keep my phone stashed away while still keeping on top of my messages while working.
It’s other fantastic feature is its file transferring capabilities. Anything like music, pictures, videos, PDFs, CBRs, I can upload them onto my phone or take them off in a very clean and streamlined fashion. This is great for someone like me who uses my phone everyday to read comics and play ROMs. I can download something on my computer and just drop it on my phone without needing it out or having it connected.
Lastly, if you have a tablet at home then this becomes even more useful of an app. You can leave your phone wherever you want at home while on your tablet and still feel connected to your phone since you won’t miss any messages that come in. All the while transferring files between your tablet and phone with ease.
When people ask me why I prefer Androids I reply by playing a SNES game, a PSX game and reading a comic in ComicRack all at the same time. Done.
